If you are in a relationship with Jesus then you have access to our heavenly Father. However, the Bible has given us some instructions to ensure that our prayers are not hindered:
"The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous." - Prov 15:29 We are righteous only through and because of Christ when we are abiding in Him with a pure and repentant heart.
-
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." - Rom 12:12
-
"pray continually" - 1 Thes 5:17
-
"Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing." - 1 Tim 2:8
-
"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." - James 4:3
-
"Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." - James 5:16
-
“If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination” - Prov 28:9
-
"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers." - 1 Pet 3:7
-
"And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” - Mark 11:25
-
"If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;" - Psalm 66:18
-
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord” - James 1:5-7

"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind." - James 1:6
"Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge. I said to the LORD, “You are my Master! Every good thing I have comes from you.” The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them! Troubles multiply for those who chase after other gods… LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine... I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice… You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever." – Psalm 16:1-11
